Now items are going back on the Yacht it is starting to take shape and look more like a yacht getting ready for next season

The navigation area is coming along well with all but a few items left to put in place for it to be finished and ready for use.

The binocular box now bolted in position and so ready for use when out sailing. 
They just few items that are back in their final position, however, it is a start and it will not be long before the other items that were removed for varnishing and painting will be back in position and the inside of the yacht will be finished off and ready for the next sailing season.

On the river at last for a short trip under motor

The first time in over three years the yacht has been out on the river and under this bridge.

Going down the river towards the sea, it hears it calling it back again

good to be back out on the river even if it is a little on the chilly side.

Time to head for home port and get back to work.

Varnishing and making new cleats

Finished varnish work put in to storage for the winter so that the varnish can get a chance to harden off over the winter before getting their final coats in the spring when they are refitted to their various boats.

Two new storage items for equipment for a client's yacht so that it will make it easier to use the equipment at sea

New oak cleats made from a pattern of an old cleat that a client had on his yacht and that he needed replacement cleats made from to match the ones on the yacht.

A busy week and still the list is getting no shorter at he moment.

It has been a busy week with a number of jobs completed and a number got underway.
The bowsprit all set up just need to sort the mast rigging and then set the rig up. 

 The forehatch need to be replaced over the winter months with a new better designed hatch that will keep the water out. 
There are number of jobs to do on the foredeck so this is one area where the apprentice can get on and do his work, while I sort out the cockpit and get the new coamings fitted as well as the manual bilge pump and the cockpit seats and lockers and other items that need storage positions.

At the same time there is a number of jobs to be getting on with in the cabin, varnishing, painting and making new locker bases for storage under the bunks.

So the jobs are getting done, but as with all refits and restorations the lists get for a time shorter then get longer again as more jobs appear.

Binocular box and other jobs.

The first part of the cockpit coamings to be dry fitted to the cockpit carlins, just two more sides to go.

The second cockpit coaming started to be fitted.

The second cockpit coaming fitted, now just needs to be cramped and screwed in place after the back coaming has its joints made and the front blocks are made to connect it to the cabin sides.

Starting to get equipment back onboard the yacht.

The navigation area now starting to come together. Just got to get the new GPS bracket fitted to the bulkhead and get the binocular box made as well as the LW radio box made and that will finish off the area.  

Now complete expect for a removable chart table which has to be made once the other work in the area is finished.

The next job for Simon will be to make a start on the cockpit coamings and the reefing brackets which have to be fitted to the outboard end of the boom to make it easier to reef the mainsail. Then back at the workshop make some new cleats to fit on the front end of the boom.

While the apprentice Ashley gets to grips with varnishing the cabin sides

 and then we both get to grips with refitting the cooker in position and measures up the trims for the edges of the bulkheads.
